Eddie Black - Biography

 Nathaniel Edward Bangira Nchemba (born 29 April 1993) known by his stage name Eddie Black ‘Duke of Galilee’ is a Zambian hip hop recording artist from Lusaka, Zambia. He began his rap career in 2011 after being discovered by Erasto who went on to produce his demo songs ‘What’s the name of the game’ and ‘Rock n Rolla’.

Later that same year he began working with renowned producer Peezey Cables and launched a smash hit single Bangumfweko and was subsequently signed to Money Music Records. His single went on to grace local hip hop charts on radio stations such as Joy FM and Hone FM.

In 2012, Eddie Black releases another hit song titled Iliche featuring Macky 2 and Peezey Cables and went on to release an EP titled Letter from Rhodesia in 2014, which features the hit single ‘Where are you’ ft. Lady Vogue.

That same year Eddie Black was signed to a record label in Kenya called Taurus Musik, while there he released only one single titled Mujulu which also did very well on the charts on Hot FM’s Top Ten at Ten show as well as other stations.

2013 was another momentous year for the Duke of Galilee. The artist co-founded the Hip Hop for Change Movement with Cheelo Sichone. The charity organization was initiated to help the underprivileged, with food, clothes, school fees and other socio-economic support efforts.

Alongside Peezy Cables, Eddie Black also started a record label called Helium Prime whose name was derived from Chemistry and the movie Transformers. Earlier this year (2021), the label’s name was changed to Mangishi Audio.

In 2015, he featured on the first My Diary project by producer Yahya Kaba known popularly as Killer Beats which featured Jae Cash and Dope G.

Eddie Black followed this with another project in 2016 titled Mr. Helium Prime which featured a song titled Papu, a collaboration with the late legendary Zambian artist Joe Chibangu.

He also became a born again Christian and rebranded as a gospel artist releasing his debut album Just Got Saved in 2020.

He has since gone on to have number of collaborations with other artists such as Krytic, Soldier, Young Majik and many more.
